Franchising

Holohan Lane are the legal advisers to the Irish Franchise Association and we have particular expertise in this area.

Where a business owner has established a proven business model, Franchising can be used as a means of developing that business. This is done by granting other third parties a licence or permission to use that business model, its intellectual property and know-how to carry out the business in an area for a fixed period of time. In return, that party (franchisee) pays a signing-on fee and monthly fees are paid to the business owner (franchisor). Franchising is one of the most successful methods of doing business known to entrepreneurs.

We act on behalf of both franchisors and franchisees in advising on franchise contracts and related business matters
